Janie's Baptism

My client Janie commissioned this painting as her personal portrait to tell her story through her baptism in Hawaii. She wanted the painting to present a vision of herself both physically and spiritually. After I interviewed her about her life experience, background, favorite colors and objects, her hopes and dreams, she told me that she would look really great if she lost twenty pounds. But she also said it's impossible, and she would be so happy if she could just lose ten pounds. With that in mind, I painted her twenty pounds lighter. She called me 3 months later and told me that the painting is the first thing she saw everyday when she gets up, and she really enjoyed this vision of herself. And she ended up losing 20 pounds through an amazing journey! |
